Jess Shook: Lead Coach
Education: ACE (American Council on Exercise) Certified Personal Trainer Since November 2012. Certified Holistic Health Coach since January 2017 from The Institute of Integrative Nutrition. Crossfit Level 1 Trainer Since May 2017 and Crossfit Gymnastics Certified since January 2018.
My passion: I love making an impact on others to believe in themselves!! Being in the fitness industry has really opened my eyes on how exercising is only the part of the big equation. It is being there for someone and forming those relationships which in return they make positive lifestyle choices because someone believed in them.
Favorite lift/workout: There are so many to choose from!! I really enjoy any partner workout, I seem to push myself harder when someone is there encouraging me and counting on me to complete a task. My favorite lift would have to be the overhead squat and I also enjoy pullups!
Mission: To create the most fun impactful experience during our workouts. I love seeing smiles on others faces while working hard! I also want to make a difference in others lives by encouraging them that they can do something that seems impossible no matter what that might be.
Hobbies: Besides working out? I really enjoy motorcycle trips with my husband. We both have a motorcycle and we just like to drive till we get tired of it. I have a garden that I spend a lot of time in, I think homegrown food is so important for your health. My husband and I like to go on hiking day trips as well and love to go boating. I also love taking time out to ride my horse Charlie. We are very family oriented so we like to spend a lot of time on the weekends with family.
Phil is a local guy who graduated from Crawfordsville High School. Phil is the General Manager at Dar-licious. He is a Certified Level 1 Crossfit Trainer and Crossfit Gymnastics certified (since January 2018). Phil is a character and brings a certain level of enthusiasm to whatever he is doing. He is passionate about opposing other people’s opinions, sarcasm and yelling. Phil’s biggest passion is dancing. Nothing like letting the rhythm of a song be expressed through movement of your body.
Phil’s favorite lifts are: squat cleans, but would can do burpees all day long. His favorite workout is MURPH. His mission as a coach is to be a catalyst in helping at least one person make a discovery that allows them to improve themselves physically, personally or any way that he can.
Phil’s hobbies are anything outside. He enjoys Disc Golf, climbing trees, shooting, and muscle smashing. He enjoys staring at art, not kidding. He writes raps and poetry in his free time.
I love the community that comes along with CrossFit. I have met a lot of friends through CrossFit. I also enjoy the competition, not only against others, but with myself. It is something measurable that I can compare myself to and try to get better. Some of my favorite workouts are partner workouts. Any workout I get to do with a partner is a lot of fun.
When I’m not working out, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. Brook and I enjoy going on hikes and doing yoga.
Andy graduated from Butler University in 2002 with a degree in chemistry. He played on the Butler golf team for four years, and then moved to Crawfordsville. Andy became a Police Officer for the City of Crawfordsville in September of 2004 and currently still works as a patrolman.
